Poppy was born in the
most fantastic surroundings, helped by the incredible Midwives at the
Edgware Birthing
Centre. A normal delivery, assisted by the
calming effect of water in a birthing pool. The final couple of contractions and
Poppy's birth was on dry land as the water had slowed her contractions.
Catherine said that "there really
was no pain" and didn't need any form of anaesthetic (from holding her hand
for the duration of the labour, I can safely assume that it was an
extraordinarily intense physiological sensation) but that "without the pool
it may have been needed'.
Big Brown eyes occasionally looked at me woefully accompanied with the words "I
can't do this", but patently, she already was..
it brought me to tears seeing her so distressed and it was certainly the most exhausting experience of her life.
